Delicious Gluten-Free Soup

October 25, 2008 · 4 comments

I love soup, but it seems like it takes forever to make it from scratch. I have found a few ready-to-serve gluten-free soups available in a can or box that are really terrific!

Imagine Organic Soups

Imagine makes the most amazing Creamy Tomato Soup! The soup is creamy and rich, and it’s gluten free. It even says so right on the back of the box and on the website. All of Imagine soups are organic and gluten free, with the exception of the Creamy Chicken Soup and the Imagine Bistro Bisques. I enjoy the creamy tomato soup with a gluten-free grilled Brie sandwich. It’s just like my old glutenous grilled cheese and tomato soup combo, but it tastes more gourmet, and of course, it’s gluten free. I also really like the Creamy Sweet Corn Soup! Being from the Midwest, I know good corn, and this is it. It’s great served with gluten-free crackers such as Blue Diamond Nut Thins.

Amy’s Kitchen Natural & Organic Soups

Amy’s Kitchen also has a variety of gluten-free organic soups. In addition, all of their gluten-free soups are listed on the website, and the product label also indicates whether the soup is gluten-free. My favorite flavor is Organic Black Bean Vegetable Soup. I add a little cayenne pepper while the soup is cooking, and I top it with a tablespoon of sour cream and sliced green onion and serve it with gluten-free crackers. It is perfect lunch or light dinner on a cool fall day. Amy’s Kitchen provides a list of all of their gluten-free products, which is quite extensive and includes not only soups, but also pasta sauce and frozen meals.

Do you have a favorite gluten-free soup that I missed? Let me know by posting a comment below!

I love Amy’s Creamy (or maybe it is Chunky) Tomato Bisque. Excellent! Even my 12 year old likes it. I will have to give that Imagine Soup a try.

I just found out last week that Progresso has many GF soups available, but I yet to try them. The list I have are:

Chicken Corn Chowder
Lentil
Chicken & Rice
New England Clam Chowder
Sante Fe Chicken
Creamy Mushroom

This is good to know; I was just diagnosed with Celiac, and I am really having a tough time finding ready-made foods that are guaranteed gluten-free. Most of the time I have to make from scratch.

Erik, finding quick-and-easy meals is very difficult for those with celiac disease. I am in the process of compiling a list of our favorite “fast foods” that we eat when we don’t have the time (or foresight) to cook. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for it!

Thanks for your comment, Kim! Thanks also for the Progresso suggestions – I’ll have to check them out!
