Hy-Vee Provides a Wide Selection of Gluten-Free Foods

Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee has been a lifesaver in my effort to maintain a gluten-free diet. They provide a comprehensive gluten-free product list, which includes several items that can be difficult to find without gluten such as Hy-Vee Soy Sauce and Hy-Vee Mayonnaise. In addition, they employ registered dieticians to help customers identify gluten-free products in the store and offer helpful ideas for tasty gluten-free meals. In addition, most stores have a designated gluten-free section with many products by Bob’s Red Mill (delicious) and 123 Gluten Free (also quite delicious). The Hy-Vee Health Food Market features many gluten-free foods such as Hy-Vee Blue Corn Chips, which are my favorite, Kind Fruit & Nut Bars, DeBoles Corn Spaghetti, and Mezzetta Napa Valley Bistro Gourmet Pasta Sauce. Hy-Vee actually has many more gluten-free options than my local health food co-op.

Hy-Vee’s list of gluten free products may be too lengthy to carry around while grocery shopping (it’s a full 53 pages). So, Drew and I plan ahead by preparing a grocery list of items necessary to make four to six meals during the week, then check the Hy-Vee list to determine which products we can buy when we’re in the store later.

The Hy-Vee gluten-free product list is not only helpful to people with celiac disease, it’s also nice for people interested in preparing gluten-free meals or treats for friends and relatives with celiac. For my bridal shower, my aunt wanted to provide a full spread of homemade gluten-free treats, but she was completely unfamiliar with gluten-free cooking. She went to Hy-Vee, spoke with the dietician, used the gluten-free product list, and she was able to make everything completely gluten free. It was truly amazing!
