Aveda must have changed their policy, as I got this response when enquiring about gf products:

We appreciate you inquiring about the ingredients in Aveda products. We regret we do not have a listing of Aveda products that are gluten free to offer you. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause you.

Consumers will find ingredient listings on our primary packaging material, in accordance with FDA regulations, using names which are standard throughout the cosmetic and fragrance industry. Because of the vast number of raw materials from different sources, it is not possible to guarantee that our products are completely free of any of the grains specified. We trust that this information is helpful to you and are glad to have been of assistance.
So I'd say Aveda is *not* celiac-friendly, and is more interested in limiting any possible liability.

Hi Dianna, you can obtain a list of Aveda's gluten free products (along with many other companies) at GlutenFreeCosmeticsList.com.

Is the gluten free product list accessible through their website? If not, how can I obtain a copy? Thanks.

Hi, AJ. Thanks for your comment. The Excel spreadsheet provided by AVEDA has two lists, the list that comes up when you open the file shows products that contain gluten. The spreadsheet I received also had a second tab that listed all the gluten-free products. All of the products that I listed in this post were gluten free the last time I received confirmation, and none of them were listed in the gluten-containing list that you sent.

While many of AVEDA's products do contain gluten, there are also many that do not. It is rare to find a company that can even provide information about whether their products contain gluten, let alone one that has so many gluten-free shampoo, hair styling, and make up products. So, although I didn't intend to imply that all of their products are celiac friendly, I maintain that AVEDA is one of the easiest cosmetic companies to work with to identify safe, gluten-free products.
